Technical Publications Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Publications Specialist to own the development and ongoing maintenance of documentation across all Jaia Robotics product lines. This is an in-person role based at our Bristol, RI office. Working closely with engineering, product, and field teams, this individual will be responsible for producing accurate, user-friendly documentation that enables customers to confidently set up, operate, and troubleshoot our systems. Deliverables include illustrated written manuals and instructional videos for the full JaiaBot product ecosystem, covering hardware and software.

This role carries an urgent near-term deliverable: a complete first version of all product documentation must be ready by August 2026 in support of new defense client onboarding. Beyond that milestone, the Technical Publications Specialist will maintain and iterate documentation continuously as products evolve, ensuring that all materials remain accurate, current, and aligned with the latest product versions across our Defense, Environmental, and Research markets.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience writing technical manuals for complex hardware and software products, and is equally comfortable translating engineering specifications into clear prose and structuring step-by-step visual guides.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the full suite of Jaia Robotics product documentation, including illustrated user manuals, setup guides, operational references, and troubleshooting resources for all current and future product lines
  • Produce instructional video content covering product setup, correct usage, and step-by-step troubleshooting procedures, in coordination with internal subject matter expertsKnowledge and experience operating our JaiaBot vehicles.
  • Drive the delivery of a complete first version of all product documentation by August 2026, in time to support onboarding of new defense clientsCommitment to protect our environment.
  • Collaborate in person with engineering, product, and field teams in Bristol, RI to deeply understand system architecture, software interfaces, and operational workflows, translating complex technical content into clear, user-facing language
  • Establish and maintain a documentation version control process to ensure all materials stay synchronized with iterative product updates across hardware and software
  • Work with field and customer success teams to incorporate real-world usage feedback into documentation improvements, ensuring materials address the most common user challenges and edge cases
  • Tailor documentation to meet the specific needs of Jaia’s diverse user segments, including defense operators, environmental researchers, and academic users, adjusting depth, tone, and format accordingly
  • Define and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guides to ensure consistency and professionalism across all published materials
  • Support compliance and regulatory documentation requirements for defense clients, coordinating with program management and legal teams as needed to ensure materials meet contractual and security standards

Accountable For

  • Delivery of a complete, accurate, and user-ready first version of all Jaia Robotics product documentation by August 2026, meeting the requirements of incoming defense clients
  • Technical accuracy and completeness of all written and video documentation across hardware and software product lines, with content that reliably guides users through setup, correct usage, and troubleshooting
  • Ongoing maintenance of documentation currency, ensuring all materials are updated promptly and systematically as products iterate, with no gaps between product releases and published documentation
  • Quality and consistency of documentation standards, templates, and style across all product lines and user segments, including defense, environmental, and research audiences
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, and field teams to gather the technical input needed for accurate documentation, while managing timelines and competing priorities
  • Instructional video content that is clear, professional, and aligned with written documentation, enabling users to successfully onboard and operate Jaia systems independently
  • Upholding Jaia’s commitment to simplicity and customer focus in every documentation deliverable, ensuring our products are as easy to understand as they are to use

Your employment is conditional upon reference and background checks and providing us documentation regarding your ability to work in the United States. You must sign all required Jaia documents including, but not limited to, Assignments of Intellectual Property, Inventions, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and such other agreements deemed necessary by Jaia.
