Production & Quality Engineer

About the Role

We’re looking for people who like solving hard, practical problems and want to have a direct impact on how JaiaBot Systems gets built, tested, and deployed. The Production & Quality Engineer will help us transition from low-volume builds to repeatable, high-quality production at scale. This is a hands-on role at the center of our hardware operation. You’ll work across engineering, production, and suppliers to define how our systems are built—and ensure they work reliably every time.

If you enjoy taking low rate initial production hardware and turning it into a defined, scalable process or mass production, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

Optimize Production Workflows

  • – Improve assembly and test processes to identify failures earlier in the process
  • – Turn low-rate production builds into repeatable production workflows that can scale
  • – Maintain version-controlled work instructions, test procedures, check lists etc
  • – Identify and fix bottlenecks to improve speed and consistency

Own Product Quality

  • – Define quality standards, inspections, and acceptance criteria
  • – Develop and run test procedures for subsystems and full systems
  • – Investigate failures and drive root cause analysis and fixes
  • – Build systems for tracking defects, failures, and reliability trends
  • – Ensure issues are caught early—not in the field

Work with Suppliers

  • – Establish incoming inspection processes
  • – Collaborate with vendors to improve part quality and consistency
  • – Help qualify new suppliers as we scale

Collaborate Across the Team

  • – Work closely with mechanical, electrical, software and test engineers
  • – Provide feedback to improve design for manufacturability and testability
  • – Help close the loop between field performance and design improvements

Experience

  • – 3–8+ years in production, manufacturing, or quality engineering (hardware-focused)
  • – Experience with electromechanical systems (robotics, marine, aerospace, automotive, etc.)
  • – Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality fundamentals

Qualifications & Skills

  • – Root cause analysis (5 Whys, fishbone, etc.)
  • – Ability to read CAD drawings, schematics, and BOMs
  • – Experience developing test procedures and validation workflows
  • – Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity
  • – Willing to build structure where it doesn’t yet exist
  • – Strong communicator in a small, fast-moving team
  • – Takes ownership and follows problems through to resolution

Nice to Have

  • – Experience scaling production from prototype to volume
  • – Familiarity with marine or harsh-environment systems
  • – Test automation or data analysis experience (Python, etc.)
  • – Experience with PLM, MES, or ERP systems
  • – Exposure to environmental or durability testing standards
